Donia Mounsef is a performance theorist, dramaturge, playwright and poet. She was born and lived in Beirut, Lebanon until the age of 19. She is Associate professor of drama and études théâtrales at the University of Alberta. Donia writes in both French and English (and occasionally Arabic) and works in both the poetic and the dramatic genre. Her creative writing has been published and anthologized in The Toronto Quarterly, The Labor of Love, Bluestem, Yes Poetry, Gutter Eloquence, Poetry Quarterly, Skin 2 Skin, Iris Brown, 40 Below Anthology. Her performance poetry and plays have been performed on stages in Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, Edmonton, and New Haven. Among her directorial credits: Sleeping Giant (StageLab, U of Alberta Timms Centre for the Arts); Voix plurielles (Campus Saint Jean); Dans la solitude des champs de coton (Calhoun Cabaret, Yale); Ubu déchaîné (Yale French Theatre). She divides her time between teaching theatre, writing and shooting hoops.
