The Only Animal’s creates original work from a deep engagement with place. Our plays range from intimate journeys for small audiences to large-scale outdoor spectacles. We have a longstanding dedication to emerging artists, and mentor and teach our collaborative, physical, and site-based approaches. Vancouver-born, The Only Animal has traveled to Ottawa, Calgary, Whistler, and North Vancouver. TOA projects have been nominated for 28 Jessie Richardson Awards and have won 7 including Best Production (The One That Got Away) and Significant Artistic Achievement (Other Freds.) The Only Animal is only human, we strive to make theatre in a way that is sustainable, joyful, treads lightly on the earth, and works with respect in all levels of collaboration.
